“I found Wendy in a Google search after being diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. After researching several options including a clinical one through my insurance, I opted to engage Wendy for what I felt was going to be more personalized care. Boy am I glad I made that decision!

I elected Wendy's nine month program, thinking it would give me a 6 month period to get my butt in gear and then three months of her support as I ease in to my new life of eating. I knew major changes were imminent as I had over 40 years of poor eating and drinking to contend with.

My first call with Wendy was scary for me - but she was gentle and easy to talk to. I shared about my CKD and she honed in immediately on the focus of my efforts - preserving my kidney function. She explained to me the finickiness of the kidneys, and how sodium, potassium and phosphorus wreak havoc on mine. We talked briefly about some immediate efforts I could take and then we scheduled an in-person meeting.

When I met with Wendy, she was well-prepared with a notepad and a laptop. We talked about my likes and dislikes when it comes to food, and the things in my life that have gotten me where I am today. She took vigorous notes and was super easy to talk to. She shared some recipes she thought I could integrate immediately into my diet, and had ideas of others she could share. We talked a lot about beans and nuts and veggies and the good and the bad. I quickly learned that many of the things I understood to be healthy are not kidney friendly at all.

Wendy followed up our meeting with a red, yellow, and green light food list for kidney function, plus some of the recipes we discussed. I was able to sit down with my husband with the list and really work together to plan meals before shopping for groceries together.

Since our meeting, I've had several calls and texts with Wendy to discuss struggles, or just ask her, "is this okay for me?" Most recently, Wendy took me on a grocery store tour where we shopped and looked vigorously at labels. I learned so much, and bought a Napa Cabbage for the first time ever!!

Thus far I am down 20 lbs, have given up a 30 year Coca Cola habit, and have a much broader understanding of what food labels represent and what I need to do to stop the advancement of CKD.

I love what I have learned so far from Wendy, and I look forward to the rest of my journey with her. I feel I can text or call her when I need her advice or cheerleading, and she is always available to share recipes and fun ways to make boring foods enjoyable.” —- Mel K (from Google business review

“We did Wendy’s 90 minute grocery store tour with follow up. I had a basic knowledge of label reading, however Wendy pointed out a few more key areas that really clicked with me. Her attitude of healthy eating as a lifestyle and it’s ok if those changes take time, set a perfect tone. Accordingly some items that I eat regularly can be “bulked up” by adding healthy choices thus cutting the bad with good, thereby maintaining the taste I enjoy, but feeling much better afterwards. I am confident moving forward to pick out items that allow me to control the amount of sugar, salt, fiber and calories. Regardless of your age, as you are building your life’s team, Wendy as your nutritionist would be a great addition.” —- Phil Henry (from Google business review)

"I really enjoyed working with Wendy and loved learning about her approach to working with people in a practical rather than disciplinarian way. She understands that it is not judgment, but rather empathy and understanding of the whole person (mind and body), as to how you get people to make real impactful lifestyle changes. It includes working on their relationship with themselves to realize it's not about what they're losing, but what they're gaining. A healthier and tastier life to do the things that make them happy." - Vanessa Ferrer, Client (from follow-up email)

“I'm not one to talk a lot about nutrition. There's so much conflicting info out there that just leaves me very confused. After speaking with Wendy I felt positive and armed to start my new weight loss journey. There was one funny part of our conversation that really simplified things for me. I was explaining to her about a diet that I was on and really trying to cut out sugar. I explained that I wasn't eating cakes, pies, cookies, ice cream or any desserts loaded with sugar, but I would have a banana or two. She replied with a sweet smile and said, "Don't beat yourself up over having something healthy like a banana." And then she said, "There's no one hospitalized for eating too many bananas. It's the cakes, pies, ice cream, etc. that puts you there." Wendy is the real deal!!! Straight talk and easy to understand.” —- Rossie Newson, Client (From Google business review)
